This project is an interview with the developer of the new indie game that you are interested in. This time, we will deliver a mini-in-tabble for developers ask Falls , an interactive drama released on July 20 for PC/XSX/Xbox One for PC/XSX/Xbox One.
This is an interactive drama designed by former staff of Quantic Dream and Sie London Studio. Set in a city in the Arizona desert in 1999, a 30-year drawing of two families collides with each other. It supports Twitch distribution and multiplayer using smartphones. Up to 8 players can play at the same time. It has already been supported in Japanese.

— First, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?
CAROLINE MARCHAL (hereinafter CAROLINE) Hello! This is CAROLINE, Creative Director CEO of Interior/Night. She has been experiencing narrative game design for 20 years in the game industry. The first game I was involved in was Fahrenheite, and before moving to the UK, I was in charge of lead game design in Heavy Rain's heart squeaking and Beyond: Two Souls. And in 2016, we finally established Interior/Night. It's difficult to choose one of your favorite games, but if you have to choose, it's Wanda and Giant. It was a beautiful and sad world view, and the design was wonderful.
Charu Desodt (hereinafter Charu) Hello! This is Charu, an interior/night production director. Twenty years ago, in the game industry, he started his career as a core programmer for the PlayStation Singstar series. Since then, he has developed console and mobile games in various studios, from Microsoft to startup indie. The games I make are characterized by the innovation that challenges the standard of the industry, so it was natural to participate in Interior/Night in 2018 and create this work.
――Why did this work developed?
The development of this work has begun because CAROLINE gamers and non-gamers can play together and create a deep and immersive deep experience. Gamers and gamers share a story that is influenced by top-notch works such as Breaking Bad, which is a deeply created story that attracts people, and experience the joy of sympathizing with the characters. I wanted to have such an experience that I could make a decision together without being tossed by the operation. In terms of experiencing together, it was originally influenced by Twitch Plays Pokémon. Interior/Night was established in 2016 to create this work, and I am very honored to complete this work with this wonderful team.
As a CHARU creative director, CAROLINE had a clear vision that shines, so she was happy to participate in the founding of this studio. This work is on the crossroads of dramas, movies, and games, pushing up the hurdle of the genre-led genre. We wanted to create a work that can play intuitively and seamlessly, even if it is difficult to develop!
―― Please tell me the characteristics of this work.
There are 3 caroline. A solid story, ease of play (you can play with a single finger by downloading a free app to your smartphone), and a variety of multiplayers (on Xbox and PCs, up to 8 people online and online. You can play). Above all, this work is also equipped with cross-platform, XCLOUD, and Twitch mode, so it is possible for distributors to enjoy this work with viewers.
CHARU This work adopts a very unique graphic, which matches the deep storytelling of this work, and all kinds of scenes are like beautiful paintings. In terms of visuals, we pursued a style that can draw short and detailed emotions. It is something that humans instinctively understand, and they feel like a player is looking at a real person, not dots. It was a difficult task to shoot using an actor, selected the key frame, and painted it by hand, but it became valuable. As a result, the handmade appearance was the imagination that fills the blank part of the characters' movements.
――What kind of person do you want this work to play?
CAROLINE This interactive story is a work that allows you to enjoy deep storytelling together, for everyone, including gamers and those who are not. This work is designed with multiplayer in mind from the beginning, so players can share their passion for games with their partners, friends, and family. And you can have insight-full discussions and make memories together.
— Is there any work influenced by this work?
Inspired by criminal dramas such as CAROLINE Fargo and Breaking Bad, and criminal films such as Wolf afternoon and No Country. These are all wonderful stories that are incorporated in various relationships. In particular, dramas have reached the golden age, and a very bold, unique and mature feature story has been developed, and you can travel with interesting characters. We are passionate about the depth and unpredictable storytelling. If you are drawn into one character, you will be worried about the direction of the character's story. This is what I want the players to experience in this work.
――I have any difficulties in responding to each language because it's a narrative adventure?
CAROLINE Development Team is a gathering of multi-language speakers, so we check the possible languages by ourselves. He worked with a competent agency and supervised the cast on his own. I chose a voice actor very carefully so that it would be as close as possible to be a voice in English, but the most important thing was my acting ability.
――What had an impact on the development of the new Coronavirus?
Charu We still work at full remote, but we will switch to a hybrid model in the future, as some people want to meet and talk. The new Corona came at the peak of the development of this work. That's why the live-action shooting and play tests have become difficult. The development team was also relocated to remotely, so I had to explore how to communicate and work together. Still, it was pretty much!
