The sports club has been doing very good, always profitable training and further education work. The most recent example: Nico Schlotterbeck. After four seasons in Freiburg, the 22-year-old new international wants to prevail at BVB at a higher level in the future and will bring the Breisgauer 20 plus five million euros.
Usually the game starts from the front. Those responsible for coach Christian Streich sign a professional who first has to cover some development steps in order to get close to the quality previously lost. This week, however, the sports club is documenting that it has progressed another step.
For new international Schlotterbeck (two A-missions) there is a current, long-established international: Matthias Ginter (46 A inserts). Freiburg has never been able to hire 1. Although no transfer is due for the Gladbach central defender, this is an exclamation mark. It once again documents the increased importance of the SC, which now spends more than 40 million euros for its professional ensemble.
back to private and football home
Ginter naturally joins captain Christian Günter in the circle of top earners. They also receive a stately million content in Freiburg. Ginter collects less than before in Gladbach and what other clubs offered him this summer. The circle of specifically interested Atletico Madrid, FC Sevilla, Inter Milan, AS Rome, Florence and Aston Villa as well as Leverkusen, Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim. But Ginter wanted to go back to his private and football home. Back to prank and his trainer colleagues, which he knows well and appreciates in terms of their technical expertise and in terms of content. Then ginter longs. With Adi Hütter he did not get along well in Gladbach, which has been open again and again since the winter.
Ginter went from Freiburg to Dortmund in 2014 as a 20-year-old member of the world championship squad like Schlotterbeck and brought ten million euros at the time. He became the Cup winner at BVB, won the Confederations Cup and Olympic silver with the German selection, and convinced with several top services, especially in his five years in Gladbach. Now Ginter slips back into the jersey, which he already wore as an eleven-year-old in the Freiburg football school and in which he won the 2011 A-Junior Cup under Streich. He is not an old star who still wants to collect applause and money shortly before the career winter in the old home, but is still the best age for ball-playing competitive athletes at the age of 28.
That is why this change also includes a piece of real football romance. However, this only unfolds its full pleasure: Ginter should quickly find its way back to its top form. Although influenced by the collective Gladbach weakness and the dissonances with the trainer - a below -average season also comes to an end for Ginter personally.
