Great that my SC Freiburg is in the cup final for the first time. It is almost unbelievable to have managed to win away with the winning victories. It is also the result of strategically good work over the years.
The SC is a registered association from conviction, holds its 100-to-zero flag on the 50+1 island of Germany. Giving belonging and giving everything for a club means a lot in this country. Also at SC, where we have "only" won young trophies, apart from the second division championship, which had been won in front of Leipzig. After the great A-youth cup victories, we were then invited to the big ones to get the trophy in the Olympic Stadium. I am delighted that our professionals are now in this final. With players like Chicco Höfler, Jonathan Schmid or captain Christian Günter, who already won the trophy with our A-youth. Not only these three will give everything for the pot.
A sworn team can sometimes beat better single players. Leipzig has the latter, and the club also comes from a completely different corner. There is a group behind RB that also pursues marketing goals. This construct is due to the zeitgeist. The fact that this group in Austria runs the Salzburg club and shows the European Cup exclusively with its broadcaster, in which Leipzig also plays.
Nevertheless, I take the hat off to the athletic performance of the Leipziger. Others also had a lot of money, but burned it. Respect for having established yourself so quickly in the top. I am pleased that people in East Germany can see top football. After the reunification, most East clubs have been bled, often to the advantage of Western Associations that won the best players. But I wouldn't mind if Leipzig continued to wait for the first title. It will come soon or the other, while the next title chance is not foreseeable at the SC. We look forward to a great game in front of a great backdrop.
